The general idea about starting the Rotarian Metalhead Fellowship dates back to 2013. 5 years later, in August 2018 the chair and founder got in touch with Rotary International to discuss the idea and possibilities of starting the Rotarian Metalhead Fellowship. On December the 4th 2018, after having successfully submitted the names of the founding board members, the board of directors, our official bylaws and a list of our more than 25 founding members of more than 5 different nationalities to Rotary International, we were officially approved as one out of approxiamtely 90 Fellowships among the Family of Rotary.
It´s been just one year that the RMF has been around …. however, though, together we have alreday accomplished quite a bit:
- We organised a sold-out metal cruise during the Rotary International Conference in Hamburg and raised 4.000 € as donation for the Wacken Foundation.
- We had a booth at this year’s Wacken Open Air and raised 3.000 € to support End Polio Now.
- The number of members has increased to ~200 members from more than 23 (!!!) countries from all over the globe.
- As first Rotarian fellowship ever, we took the step to allow membership also to non-members of the Rotarian family. This means, that everybody who wants to join the RMF and support the good cause is allowed to do so.
